Sidonia Nicolae Installed as Honorary Consul of Hungary
The International Center proudly supports the expansion of the Consular Corps of Indianapolis, celebrating the installation of Ms. Sidonia Nicolae M.S. as the Honorary Consul of Hungary to Indiana. With strong economic, educational, and cultural ties between Hungary and Indiana, we look forward to continued growth under Ms. Nicolae’s leadership. The Sagamore Institute invites community members to a special breakfast reception commemorating the 31st International Reflection on the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda. The event will feature The Honorable Arthur Asiimwe, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Rwanda, Washington, DC, who will share reflections on the genocide and Rwanda’s remarkable journey of reconciliation, development, and nation-building over the past three decades.
The reception will take place on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM at COhatch Broad Ripple, The Great Room, 6151 Central Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46220. Attendees will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights into Rwanda’s resilience and progress while engaging in meaningful discussions. Celebrate love and unity at Loving Day on Saturday, June 7th, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse! Hosted by The International Center in partnership with Pacers Sports & Entertainment and former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, this special event honors the historic Loving v. Virginia Supreme Court decision. Enjoy inspiring stories from interracial couples, live entertainment, and a meaningful vow renewal ceremony officiated by Mayor Ballard. Families and children are welcome!

The Spring 2025 Intern Cohort had the opportunity to meet with former intern Noah Moenning as part of their professional development series. We were grateful to hear about his journey, his work at the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana, and his role as Director of Client Advocacy.

It was an honor to host Mr. Gheewhan KIM, President of The Korea Foundation, and Ms. Suyon LEE, Director of The Korea Foundation USA, along with their delegation at The International Center. President KIM was in town for the Korean Studies Forum at Indiana University Indianapolis, co-sponsored by The Korea Foundation and the Hamilton Lugar School of Global & International Studies' Institute for Korean Studies.

The International Center celebrated new Hoosier citizens at a recent naturalization ceremony in Carmel, where 98 individuals from 38 countries became U.S. citizens. Board member emerita Priscila Vansetti Machado presented a special American flag, flown over the U.S. Capitol, in memory of Judge Toni Cordingley, honoring the eldest citizen naturalized that day. This event highlighted the diverse and growing international community in Indiana.
