Kokomo Mayor Leads Delegation to South Korea
Last month, The International Center and our newly formed Korea-Indiana Partnership were delighted to support Mayor Tyler Moore and the City of Kokomo on their first delegation visit to South Korea. Since 2020, Korea-based firms have committed more than $6.2 billion in foreign direct investment in north central Indiana.
On November 15, the Morris Series cohort had an inspiring session at the Eli Lilly and Company Corporate Center.
The day featured welcome remarks from Dr. Nicolas Chemali, a session on global business expansion by Colin Renk, and a tour of Lilly’s facilities, including its museum and stunning downtown views.
The afternoon included a case study with Martin Baier, insights into supply chain management from Dr. Janaina Siegler of Butler University, and an engaging discussion with Dr. Chemali and his Eli Lilly colleagues, sharing their experiences in global business.

IVLP: Combating Human Trafficking with Technology
The International Center had the honor of hosting five visitors from India for the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) focused on Combating Human Trafficking with Technology.
The delegation met with representatives from the Indianapolis Airport Authority, TSA, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Purdue University, and the Indiana State Police.

Last month, The International Center was honored to host a welcome reception for Mr. Vitaliy Bunechko, Governor of Zhytomyr Oblast, Ukraine. Earlier this year, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb signed an MOU agreement establishing a sister-state relationship with Zhytomyr focused on academic, agriculture, and cultural exchange. The visiting delegation included business and government leaders along with a special musical performance Zhytomyr Regional Philharmonic Choir.
2025 Intern Open House
Thank you to all the fantastic 2025 intern candidates who joined us for our open house! It was a pleasure meeting with students from Butler University, Indiana University Bloomington, IU Indianapolis, DePauw University, UIndy, Marian University, and Ball State University.
We look forward to the passion and skills the next cohort will bring to the team!
IVLP: Empowering Women Leaders in STEM
In November, we were thrilled to host five inspiring women from Australia, Japan, and India for the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) focused on Empowering Women Leaders in STEM in the Quad.
The group visited with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, the IU Center of Excellence for Women & Technology, TechPoint, and Purdue Polytechnic High School to learn about their strategies for promoting women's empowerment and achievement in technology.

We had the pleasure of attending The Economic Club of Indiana’s December luncheon featuring Sue Ellspermann, President of Ivy Tech Community College. The thought-provoking discussion centered on Higher Education at the Speed of Life and how institutions like Ivy Tech are innovating to meet the evolving needs of students and the workforce.

We’re incredibly grateful to our board member, Maggie (Bishop) Cunningham, for representing The International Center at the historic first naturalization ceremony hosted by the Indianapolis International Airport! Maggie did a wonderful job, bringing warmth and support to the event as 47 individuals from 24 different countries proudly took the Oath of Citizenship. A special thank you to Mario Rodriguez, who shared his inspiring story with the new citizens.

Introducing the Korea-Indiana Partnership, a new program initiative between the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and The International Center (Indianapolis) designed to strengthen the business and civic ties between the Republic of Korea and the State of Indiana. We look forward to working with the many partners at today's kickoff event to take the Indiana-Korea relationship to the next level!
